Tr@inforPedHIV started for the first time in 2005, in the framework of the partnership between PENTA and the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases. It is a training programme for healthcare professionals caring for HIV infected children. This innovative course uses a new methodology integrating distance learning with interactive residential courses.
Residential course in Rome 2017
Tr@inforPed HIV is unique in its learning system as it incorporates an e-learning section into the teaching. The online course is a series of modules and clinical cases for the student to go through plus a final 2 weeks distance discussion. This is all brought together during a 3-day residential symposium held every year in Rome, for the European edition, where teachers and participants meet up and share experiences and know-how. Since 2008 it has been part of the Oxford Paediatric Infectious Diseases Diploma.
At the beginning, the course was designed to address topics related to the treatment of children with HIV/AIDS in Western and Eastern Europe, but the great success of the first experiences led the organisers to readapt and export it also to low and middle income countries, in a variety of international settings including Africa, Asia and Latin America. This gave the chance to many more clinicians to meet and benefit from this experience and share knowledge.
So far, more than 900 clinicians from more than 30 Countries have participated in the training, which has been extremely successful and very well received by the attendees.
To date we have carried out 32 courses and have some others planned in the very near future. Click here to read the final report from the Rome 2017 training course.
The enrollment to the 2018 edition opens 12th March. The online course 1 opens 8th May; online course 2 opens in September. The residential course will be on 17-18-19 October 2018 in Rome, Italy. Find more details in this flyer.
