[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”description”]Penta and Padua Hospital (Azienda Ospedaliera di Padova) hold a collaborative agreement on the implementation of research projects, assistance and training in the field of HIV/AIDS and paediatric diseases, and clinical research in general.
Central to this collaboration is the socio-educational work carried out by some members of the Penta staff. Socio-educational work is an intermediate area between the hospital world of healthcare and illness, and the non-hospital domains of school, family and social life which allow HIV-infected children and adolescents to grow up together in a positive atmosphere. Moreover, it helps patients create a relationship with adults who may step in and take on a supporting role which may be lacking in their home life. Indeed, the pedagogical activity is aimed at creating a relationship of trust with minors, adolescents and families, so as to respond more and more adequately to their specific socio-educational needs. This is done through targeted individual and group interventions, both in the hospital environment and externally.
This activity is supported by the work of a psychotherapist specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of psychopathologies in children and their families, particularly concerning the area of maternity and people living with HIV.
