In 2025, Penta reached a major milestone with the completion of the EPPICC paediatric study on dolutegravir (DTG), a key antiretroviral medicine used in the treatment of children and adolescents living with HIV. With data collected across Europe and Thailand, EPPICC represents one of the largest studies to date providing detailed clinical outcomes on DTG in children under 12 years of age, addressing a critical evidence gap in paediatric HIV care.
The study generated strong real‑world evidence showing that DTG is generally well tolerated and highly effective in helping most children and adolescents achieve or maintain viral control. At the same time, the findings highlighted the need for closer follow‑up and targeted support for specific groups, particularly children who started DTG while their virus was not fully controlled. These insights help clinicians use DTG more safely and effectively, tailoring treatment to individual needs.
Beyond viral suppression, EPPICC also explored growth outcomes, showing changes that in many cases can be interpreted as a positive “return to health”. In 2025, the study’s results were translated into concrete outputs, including peer‑reviewed publications and international conference presentations.
Transparent dissemination through peer‑reviewed publications and international conferences ensures that data are translated into shared knowledge, strengthening clinical practice and responsible decision‑making.
