11th Symposium on Children and Adolescents with Perinatal HIV Exposure
July 1
The 11th Symposium on Children and Adolescents with Perinatal HIV Exposure will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in July 2025 (exact date TBC). It is organised by the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) of IAS – the International AIDS Society – in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), Mass General Brigham, Paediatric-Adolescent Treatment Africa (PATA) and Pediatrics HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS).
This is the largest annual forum for scientific and policy dialogue around children and adolescents with perinatal HIV exposure. It builds on nine years of convenings focused on the health and well-being of the nearly 16 million children and adolescents who experienced in-utero or breastfeeding exposure to HIV but did not acquire HIV
The pre-conference will reflect on current research findings on effective interventions and policies aimed at supporting children and adolescents with perinatal HIV exposure. It will focus attention on the needs of infants, children and adolescents with perinatal HIV exposure and their caregivers, with an emphasis on optimizing outcomes.
