Dynamic gathering of Penta’s early career researchers at PIM: an occasion for collaboration and growth

05 Sep, 2024

Our early career researchers gathered at the PIM 2024 which provided a great opportunity for these young professionals to discuss collaboration opportunities, career development, exchange ideas and update each other on their career trajectories and ongoing projects. Here are the updates from the ECR working group subgroups:

Mentoring Programme Pilot Launched

One of the standout highlights of the event was the launch of our new mentoring programme pilot. This initiative is designed to foster professional growth by pairing early career researchers with experienced mentors, from our network, in their respective fields. The programme aims to provide guidance, support, and valuable insights that can help these young researchers navigate the complexities of their careers. Participants expressed enthusiasm about the potential for personal and professional development through this structured mentoring relationship.

A total of 10 mentees and 10 mentors have been recruited and matched for this pilot mentoring programme. They began meeting in June, and initial results on the programme’s progress will be shared soon. Happy mentoring to all!

Missed your chance to apply? No worries! A full edition of the mentoring programme will be launched soon. Stay tuned!

Penta Cafès Webinars – Upcoming dates

These online sessions, known for their engaging and informative content, will be back with new dates soon. The webinars offer a unique opportunity for researchers to stay updated on the latest advancements, discuss emerging trends, and share best practices within their fields through a peer-to-peer approach. The Penta Cafès have become a staple in the community, providing an accessible platform for continuous learning and networking. Stay tuned for the next dates. If you have a segment (ongoing research, search of new collaborators, seeking brainstorming) that you would like to present at a following meeting please let us know.

Ongoing Commitment to Training & Education

Continuous professional development is a cornerstone of the ECRs’ growth, and involvement in various training courses and workshops is being implemented. The ECR WG Training subgroup is preparing a comprehensive assortment of training opportunities according to identified training needs. Hopefully these will be useful in supporting Penta‘s ECRs in becoming the leading scientists and scholars of tomorrow. Here you can find some available training opportunities ECR Needs and Resources File.
