PentaTr@ining, Best at ESPID!

26 May, 2021

We are excited to announce that Dr. Steve Welch and the PentaTr@ining team have been awarded the ‘ESPID Distinguished Award for Education 2021’!

This award honours ESPID members who have excelled in education and training in paediatric infectious diseases and is offered in recognition of the innovative and highly effective work the PentaTr@ining team has carried out.

Steve, the PentaTr@ining lead, expressed his gratitude while accepting the award on behalf of the team during the ‘Best of ESPID’ session today, which is part of the ESPID 2021 online meeting. In his words: “I am delighted that ESPID has recognised the work of PentaTr@ining over many years with this award. I am particularly glad that this is a team award – nothing could fit better with the PentaTr@ining ethos! I attended the first Penta course in 2005 as a delegate, and it is a real privilege to now be involved in running it. Penta is a family, which keeps expanding as the training reaches new areas and revisits familiar ones. Over the years there has been ever more involvement of young people in designing and delivering the courses. A huge number of Penta members are involved in the training, and it is a genuine pleasure to work with all of you. You are all recognised in receiving this award.”

Our in-depth PentaTr@ining platform is designed to provide specialist knowledge for healthcare workers caring for children, adolescents and pregnant women living with HIV and other infectious diseases. Having delivered numerous training programmes to date, and with an expert international faculty on board, Penta tailors its creative and high-quality trainings for a range of settings – both online and face-to-face. Since its initiation in 2005, more than 5,000 healthcare workers from over 30 countries across the globe have benefitted from our interactive courses.

A big congratulations to Steve and everyone on the PentaTr@ining team!
