PREPARE press release on Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak

The first confirmed case of Wuhan Coronavirus infection in the United States has been announced yesterday by CDC. The  Platform foR European Preparedness Against (Re-) emerging Epidemics (PREPARE) network, in which Penta is partner, has been set-up to rapidly respond to any severe ID outbreak, providing real-time evidence for clinical management of patients and for informing public health responses.

PREPARE has been triggered to respond following outbreak of the new strain of Wuhan Coronavirus, and is checking its readiness to respond in the event that the outbreak spreads to Europe. These preparations are proportionate to the current relatively low risk for European citizens.

All activities are conducted in close collaboration with partner networks and the European Commission and in alignment with the WHO and ECDC. Further detail on PREPARE activities can be found here.
