In 2023, Penta partnered on Team-COACH, an innovative project co-funded by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) and coordinated by the Servicio Madrileño de Salud (SERMAS, Spain). The project addresses a critical need in paediatric healthcare, reducing the burden of AMR in children.

The project’s core lies in developing a cutting-edge online training platform and a European collaborative group on AMR in paediatrics. This platform will equip healthcare professionals across Europe with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement best practices in infection prevention and control (IPC) and promote responsible use of antimicrobials (antimicrobial stewardship, AMS).

Drawing on Penta’s and partners’ unique expertise and knowledge in the field of child health and infectious diseases, Team-COACH ensures content is:

  • Tailored specifically for paediatric care providers: The training modules account for the unique challenges and considerations in treating children, ensuring the information directly applies to their daily practice. This includes addressing the specific pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antibiotics in children and age-appropriate infection control measures.
  • Grounded in the latest evidence: Content reflects the latest scientific advancements in IPC and AMS for paediatric populations. This guarantees healthcare professionals receive up-to-date and reliable information to inform their clinical decisions.

Thanks to its training platform, Team-COACH will facilitate the creation of online communities where professionals can share experiences, best practices, and resources, further strengthening the collective fight against AMR. This initiative exemplifies Penta’s unwavering dedication to its mission, paving the way for improved healthcare practices, reduced antimicrobial resistance, and ultimately, healthier children worldwide.
