We are thrilled to announce that the Penta Young Reporters project has been awarded the “Excellence in Patient Programmes” award at the 2025 Communiqué Awards. This recognition celebrates innovation and impact in healthcare communications and patient engagement.
Developed by the Penta Foundation and funded by ViiV Healthcare and Gilead Sciences, the Young Reporters project bridges the gap between scientific research and the communities most affected by paediatric and adolescent HIV. At its heart, the project empowers young people living with HIV to become confident science communicators using their lived experiences to share health messages that truly resonate.
Too often, children and adolescents living with HIV are left out of scientific conversations about the research and medical decisions that directly affect them. As a result, they may lack access to clear, relevant information about their treatment and care. The project is changing that, providing young people with the tools, knowledge and confidence to play an active role in how research is communicated to young people living with HIV.
Now preparing for its third edition, the Penta Young Reporters model continues to grow. Each new group of young reporters will receive training, mentorship and hands-on skills in science communication from Penta and a healthcare communications partner (previous editions were supported by 90ten). This not only expands the reach and impact of HIV research, it also helps develop the next generation of global health leaders.
This achievement would not have been possible without the passion, creativity, and dedication of the young reporters themselves. Penta extends its deepest thanks to every young person who has contributed to the project. Your voices are powerful, and this award is a testament to your impact.
